Payment Options

Rates can be paid either:

  • in full by 8 September (issued July), or
  • in four instalments (due on 8 September - issued July,1  December - issued October, 1 March - issued January and 1 June - issued April each year)

    If you decide to pay in four approximately equal instalments you will be sent an account for each instalment (each instalment is calculated to be approximately equal)

If you are unable to make payments by the due date please contact Council on 8408 1111 (before the due date) to discuss possible payment alternatives (Penalties for late payment will still apply, however recovery action will be avoided).


Contact your participating bank to make payment from your cheque, savings or credit card account.

To register for BPAY View:

  1. Log into your online banking account
  2. Look for the BPAY View or View Bills section
  3. Register to receive your City of Charles Sturt rates notice by entering:
    • the Biller Code: 10330
    • your BPAY View reference number: located on the top right corner of your rates notice
    • your Valuation number: as shown in the Property Details box your rates notice (include all characters)

Pay by Direct Debit

To arrange quarterly payments debited from either your cheque or savings account read our Direct Debit Request - Service Agreement then download, fill out and return the Direct Debit Request Form:

It’s Easy to Start

All you need to do to start the direct debit process is:

  1. Complete the Direct Debit Request Form.
  2. Return the original form to the City of Charles Sturt, Rates Department, PO Box 1, Woodville SA 5011 or via fax 08 8408 1122 or email form to

Pay by Telephone

  • Contact Council on 8408 1111 to pay over the phone using your Visa or Mastercard or;
  • Pay by phone using your Visa or Mastercard call 1300 609 653 all hours and follow the recorded directions.

Pay in Person

  • You can make cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card payments during hours 8.30am-5pm Mon-Fri (excluding public holidays) at the Civic Centre, 72 Woodville Road, Woodville.
    For security reasons, cash payments are not accepted at Henley Beach, West Lakes, Hindmarsh or Findon libraries.
  • You can also pay in person at any Australia Post outlet - please note that there is a minimum of $20 per transaction.

Pay by Mail

  • Post a cheque (make payable to the City of Charles Sturt and crossed "Not Negotiable"), money order or Credit card payment to City of Charles Sturt, PO Box 1 Woodville SA 5011. Please allow 6 business days prior to the "Last Day To Pay" for payments sent by mail.
    (Diners Club and American Express cards are not accepted)
